The Margary Quadrangle is located adjacent to the historic George Gilbert Scott chapel at Exeter College, Oxford.  This neglected space is used for car and bike parking and for the storage of a large number of college waste bins.  The college's administrative offices spill out onto this utilitarian quad and students residing at the college need

to walk through it to access their living quarters. This is a much used and little loved space. Whilst maintaining the current functional requirements it is the clients wish to reclaim this as a garden within which the college staff and students can find some outdoor respite.

An existing sculpture anchors the garden and is surrounded by dense frame of lush shade loving perennials and ferns. Tree ferns are used to provide some verticality and privacy from the adjacent buildings overlooking the square. Project in collaboration with Rupert Muldoon.
